A proper Mojito means muddling mint without shredding it, which is a skill nobody has at eleven at night with guests in the kitchen. This is that drink with the hard part removed, white rum, lime and dragonfruit, blended in small batches at our place in Manchester. And then there is the shimmer.
Yes, It Actually Shimmers
There is edible shimmer in this one, so give the can a gentle turn before you pour and the whole glass comes alive. It is not a gimmick bolted onto a dull drink, it is a genuinely good tropical Mojito that also happens to look extraordinary in a glass. Pour it for someone who is not expecting it and watch what happens. This is comfortably the most photographed can we make.
Tropical, But Still a Mojito
Dragonfruit is subtle stuff, gently sweet with a soft melon character, so it lifts the drink rather than taking it over. Underneath it, everything that makes a Mojito work is still in place, clean white rum, sharp lime and cooling mint. It reads exotic and drinks familiar, which is exactly the balance we were after.
Cans and the Bottle
The 200ml cans come in an 8 pack for the fridge or a 24 pack when there is a party, a barbecue or a summer that needs taking seriously. Every can is a finished cocktail, no muddling and no mint stems in your teeth.
The 700ml bottle gives seven serves at a standard 100ml pour. Turn the bottle gently before pouring to wake the shimmer up, then serve tall over ice. It is the one to put on the table when you want people to ask questions. Catering for a mixed crowd? The taster pack covers eight Boozy flavours in a single box.
How to Serve It
Tall glass, plenty of ice, fresh mint if you have it and a wedge of lime. Turn the can before you open it so the shimmer is properly mixed through, then pour slowly and let it settle. Clear glass only for this one, obviously. Serving it in an opaque mug would be a waste of everyone's time.
How Strong Is It?
Cans and bottle are both 8.4% ABV, which works out at about 1.7 UK units per 200ml can and around 5.9 units across the full 700ml bottle. Our Cocktail ABV Calculator shows how that compares with a Mojito built from scratch at home.
Small Batch, Made By Us
Blended and canned by us in Manchester in small batches. Getting the shimmer to suspend properly took a fair amount of trial and error, and getting the dragonfruit to show up without turning the whole thing into a smoothie took even longer. Worth it.
Rather Make Your Own?
If you have got the mint and the patience, my Dragonfruit Mojito recipe takes you through it properly. And for every other occasion, the cans live on our ready to drink cocktail cans page with the rest of the range.
Dragonfruit Mojito FAQs
What is the shimmer made of?
It is edible shimmer, food safe and completely tasteless. It changes nothing about the flavour, it just makes the drink look spectacular when you pour it.
Do I need to shake the can?
Do not shake it, just turn it gently a couple of times before opening. That distributes the shimmer without the can fizzing over when you crack it.
What does dragonfruit taste like?
Mild and gently sweet, somewhere between melon and pear. In this drink it adds a tropical lift rather than a strong fruit flavour of its own.
How many serves in the 700ml bottle?
Seven at a standard 100ml pour. Give the bottle a gentle turn before each round to bring the shimmer back through.
